#12: The Dropkick Murphys

From the convent to the rectory and over the the sacristy. I'm a Goddamn travesty and that's just my luck

Next are the Dropkick Murphys. They were the first band I saw after I first came to Loyola

Wiki Says: Dropkick Murphys are an Irish American Celtic punk/hardcore punk band formed in Quincy, Massachusetts. First playing together in the basement of a friend's barbershop, they blended traditional Irish folk rock and punk rock known as Celtic punk. Their influences include Stiff Little Fingers, The Pogues, The Clash, Thin Lizzy, The Dubliners, and the Swingin' Utters.

The band has made a name for itself and built a following as a result of their non-stop touring all over the world, and their St. Patrick's Day weekend shows, which are held in and around Boston, are legendary. The group is also famous for their patronage of the Boston Red Sox and Bruins

Dropkick was another band I first heard in Tony Hawk's Underground. From that came Mp3 files from Epitaph records. Then borrowing two CD's. Now I own and love all their records. Aside from being Red Socks fans, they're about as good as it gets. Some people don't like their punk versions of traditional Irish songs. I'm not Irish, so I enjoy these cover. Their latest live album is great and features Civet and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. It really captures they great energy that comes with their live shows.

Up Next: New Jersey's biggest up and coming band that doesn't feature a Jonas Brother
