Next up are The Aquabats!, who are awesome for two reasons in addition to their music. 1) Travis Barker got his start with them (before he was stolen by Blink) as "The Baron Von Tito" (pictured below) and 2) Lead singer Christian Jacobs AKA "The MC Bat Commander" is the co-creator of "Yo Gabba Gabba" on Nick.

They have released four full-length studio albums and have toured internationally. They are best known for their mythology, in which they claim to be superheroes on a quest to save the world from evil through music. As a part of this mythology the band members have adopted superhero pseudonyms and dress in matching costumes. Their eclectic live show often includes onstage "battles" with costumed foes, and the band has built up an elaborate and ever-changing backstory of their origins and adventures, along with a roster of allies and enemies. The Aquabats! cover more topics in their music than any band I can think of. Love, dogs, war, bike rides with your dad, partying, getting rejected, food, lullabies, friendship....whatever the hell "Sandy Face" is about. I used to think The Aquabats! were stupid. But then I started listening and now I love the nerdy superhero back story to them. Plus, "Yo Gabba Gabba" is pretty kick ass. Look for Travis Barker in the first video playing a portable snare drum.
