#40: The Miasmics

It's awfully cold for an April night

Next up we have The Miasmics, the primary reason ska had popularity in Verona which would one day result in my taste in music.

Myspace says:
The Miasmics were a 6(sometimes 7,) piece band from northern NJ. They play an eclectic mix of ska, rock, funk & reggae that continues to win over fans of all ages, while strong musicianship and an 8-year history of playing together make them one of the finest live bands around. In 2003 they placed 2nd overall out of 192 bands to earn a top slot at the Skate & Surf Festival in Asbury Park, NJ. Later that year they were featured on the 4-disc ska compilation entitled "Still Standing", which is receiving lots of good reviews and also features songs by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Buck-o-Nine, Forces of Evil, Let's Go Bowling and lots more. After over a year of hard work, the band has just recently released their 2nd full-length album, "You Just Gotta Trust It", which was recorded with ska legend King Django at Version City studios and is without a doubt their strongest musical offering to date. Additionally, the band was invited to join a date of this summer's Warped Tour. In addition to miasmics.com, please check out our

They were one of the more successful of the local ska bands to be around in the early 2000's, and what they accomplished is all listed above in the myspace section. Check them out, and also check out the work of their new projects including The Defending Champions and Stephanie White and the New Jersey PhilthHarmonic
